Why green?
The city of Frankfurt, a green hotel and business - does this fit together?
Perhaps you are wondering what a green hotel is? What makes Villa Orange different from the other hotels in Frankfurt, and what are the advantages for you? In an interview, Christiane Hütte talks about why she runs a green hotel and your benefits as a guest.
What distinguishes Villa Orange from other hotels in Frankfurt?
We have been certified organic for 15 years and are still the only organic hotel in Frankfurt that is green and completely organic. Sustainable management, regional sourcing where possible, and the continuous effort to work in an ecologically compatible manner are what sets us apart. Sustainability has become a major trend, but we are not just a little bit green, we are 100% organic. This is why we joined the BIO HOTELS community of values in 2009. The association implements and constantly monitors high ecological standards.
And what’s in it for our hotel guests?
They now have the guarantee that only high-quality and healthy organic products end up on their breakfast plates. They sleep in organic cotton, they shower with allergy-friendly, natural products and they experience that great feeling of doing something good for the environment with their stay. Many of our guests want to continue their sustainable lifestyle on the road and during their working hours.
Do organic and green fit with the financial metropolis of Frankfurt?
Frankfurt and Frankfurters are much “greener” than it seems at first glance. There is a lively network and especially our quarter, the Nordend, is “very green”. I myself am involved in the Rhine-Main Environmental Forum and the Netzwerk Achtsame Wirtschaft (Mindful Economy Network). We closed an important gap in the conference segment by offering Green Meetings. We often find that our business guests - if they have the choice - choose green, even for one night!
Do you have a few tips for eco-conscious visitors to Frankfurt?
A foray through the Northend district is always worthwhile. Here you will find charming cafés and unusual shops. And there are still water houses here. Explore Berger Straße, the trendy mile for the eco-conscious. And those who have had enough of the hustle and bustle can find peace and quiet in Bethmann Park.
