Five tips to discover what Frankfurt has to offer in August

1. Frankfurt Cider Festival

9th August – 18th August 2024

Apple wine – known locally as Ebbelwei, Schoppe or Stöffche is the national beverage of Frankfurt. It is traditionally drunk in a quaint apple wine pub from a Gerippte, a glass with a diamond pattern. The Cider festival is already a tradition in Frankfurt. At Frankfurt's summery Roßmarkt, everything revolves around the Hessian national drink and what you can make from it. A ride on the Ebbelwei Express is also a fun treat.

2. A bicycle tour on the banks of the Main

From Villa Orange, you can quickly reach the Main through the gardens. You can cycle for hours along the banks of the Main between the city’s East and West Harbors (Osthafen and Westhafen) enjoying a view of Frankfurt’s impressive skyline. You will surely want to visit one of the many museums along your route. The Städel Museum celebrates Women Artists between Frankfurt and Paris around 1900, in the Museum of World Cultures (Weltkulturenmuseum) you can listen to soundscapes, and the Senckenberg Museum is dedicated to biodiversity. Our restaurant recommendation: Restaurant Emma Metzler in the Museum Angewandte Kunst

3. Museum Embankment Festival

23th August – 25th August 2024

Every year, Frankfurt's Museum Embankment is transformed into a lively stage for one of the largest cultural festivals in Germany. Visitors from Frankfurt, Germany and all over the world are invited to experience the unique atmosphere of this festival, which combines art, culture and gastronomy along the banks of the River Main.

4. Discover Frankfurts new old town

The harmonious architectural blend of the new quarter calls to mind the moving history of Frankfurt. The old town's archaeological gardens feature the remnants of a former Roman settlement and an imperial palace dating back to Carolingian times, explained by way of a special video animation. Last but not least, there's the so-called Coronation Route, which follows the footsteps of former kings and emperors to the place of their crowning.

5. Definitely worth a visit: The Schirn Kunsthalle

CASABLANCA ART SCHOOL

Until 13 October 2024

Just a few years after Morocco gained independence in 1956, a vibrant center of cultural renewal developed in Casablanca. The SCHIRN is presenting the unique and influential work of the Casablanca Art School in a first major exhibition, one that is long overdue.
